Men's Lacrosse Keeps Rolling with Road Victory over Marietta

MARIETTA – The John Carroll Men's Lacrosse team earned its seventh straight victory by defeating Marietta College, 11-5, on Saturday afternoon.

Morgan Morrell, Josh Lombardo, and Colin Morrissey each tallied three goals for the Blue and Gold. Morrissey would add four assists, totaling seven points for the day.

The first quarter was a defensive slugfest, as both the Blue Streaks and Pioneers held each other scoreless. Jon Gaglio recorded four saves, while Ben Millard of Marietta stopped four shots as well.

In the second period, JCU would get on the scoreboard first, as Lombardo scored his first goal on the man-up opportunity with 13:01 remaining.

After trading goals, JCU led 2-1 and Morrell pushed the Blue Streaks' lead to two goals after a nice pass from Billy Paladino.

Heading into the locker room, John Carroll led 3-1 despite dominating the total shots, 32-7, with 15 being on net. JCU also earned 15 ground balls.

In the second half, JCU extended its lead to 7-2 with 6:03 left in the third quarter. The Pioneers would tally one more goal cutting the deficit to four heading into the fourth.

The Blue Streaks outscored Marietta 4-2 in the final frame and sealed the victory. The JCU defense was strong causing seven turnovers.

John Carroll will wrap up the regular season with a matchup Wednesday night at 7 pm on the road against Mount Union. With a win JCU, will earn the 1-seed for the upcoming OAC Tournament, holding the tiebreaker over Baldwin Wallace.
