Men's Wrestling Notches 3-1 Mark at Olivet Comet Duals

The Blue Streaks notched wins over Henry Ford, Alma, and Cornell

OLIVET, Mich. – For the second time in as many weeks, John Carroll Men's Wrestling made a trek north to Michigan.

The Blue Streaks enjoyed a successful day up north, picking up three wins at the Olivet Comet Duals.

John Carroll defeated Henry Ford College (45-0), Alma College (47-6), and Cornell College (24-14) before dropping the finale to the University of Olivet, 22-17.

Ty Daugherty was the star of the show for the Blue Streaks. The Avon native was the lone Blue Streak to roll to a 4-0 record. The junior squeaked out three narrow decisions and won a match via an injury.

Thomas Lunt also stood undefeated for the day. The Blue Streaks' heavyweight won all three of his victories via decision in a nice day for the junior

Both Ryan Forrest and Wills Bronson tallied 2-0 days. Forrest beat foes from Henry Ford and Cornell, while Bronson bested opponents from Alma and Olivet.

Kyle Bizjak also deserves kudos, as he tabbed a 3-1 record. The Aurora native won his first three matches of the day before losing in the final contest.

Against Henry Ford, JCU did not leave a doubt in a dominant effort from start to finish, 45-0. The Blue Streaks burst out to a fantastic start vs. Alma and lost only one match en route to a 47-6 domination.

In the penultimate match, JCU won four decisions and a tech fall to open with a 17-0 lead. Cornell tried to make a match of it, but Aiden Ashburn's win ensured that JCU could weather a few late losses in a 24-14 conquest. Olivet opened an early lead with four major decisions, and while JCU tried to get back into it late, JCU could not get big enough wins to overcome the deficit in a 22-17 loss.
