Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Yellow Jackets in Home Finale

The Blue Streaks enjoyed a strong effort in the final home meet of the campaign.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – John Carroll Men's Swimming & Diving made the final home swim meet of the season count.

The Blue Streaks conquered Baldwin Wallace in a dominant effort, winning the Ohio Athletic Conference dual by a final score of 150-87 on Morgan's Message Night.

Excellent swims abounded in this strong effort for John Carroll with the conference championships quickly approaching.

The evening began on a nice note for the Blue & Gold. The Blue Streaks swept the top two places in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Luke Novak, Bart Kubis, Owen Holm, and Daniel Argalious won the event with a time of 1:35.99. Kubis and Holm already had the adrenaline pumping after playing a strong rendition on electric guitars. Jacob Clark, Patrick Branch, Dom Falcon, and Bryce Liddell combined for second with a mark of 1:37.87. 

Argalious and Holm formed a formidable duo soon after in the 50 Free. Argalious stood atop the heap with a time of 21.19, followed by Holm in third at 22.14. 

Sam Kmet kept up his hot streak in the 1000 Free. The freshman from Revere dominated the competition with a time of 10:10.78. Aidan Hulseman tallied second in the event with a time of 10:26.39. Joe Nadur also stayed hot in the 400 IM, winning the event in dominant fashion, marking down a time of 4:08.65. Yuriy Gorobchuk and Bailey Parsons nabbed second and third respectively in the 200 Free with marks of 1:50.92 and 1:53.78.

In the 1 Meter diving, Jacob Clark led the effort with a third-place effort of 154.55. 

Out of the diving break, the Blue Streaks fired up a fantastic race in the 100 Free (after Joe Nadur and Sam Kmet went 2-3 in the 200 Fly). The Blue Streaks swept the quick event, with Argalious leading the way. The Saint Ignatius product took home the gold with a time of 47.49. Branch and Liddell completed the sweep with times of 48.05 and 48.43. 

Luke Novak kept the good vibes going with a victory by a clear margin in the 200 Backstroke. The Stow native carded a time of 1:58.01 for the win. Aidan Hulseman roared for the win in the 500 Free next, soaring for a 4:58.91. Jacob Burton followed closely in 4:59.42.

Kubis won his first individual event of the night in the 200 Breaststroke after winning a relay earlier in the evening. The freshman rocked a 2:12.32 to win, with Gorobchuk grabbing second. 

In a fitting capper to the night, the Blue Streaks rocked the 400 Free Relay. Forrest Campbell, Branch, Liddell, and Nadur combined for handily win the event with a first-place effort of 3:10.94. Novak, Aidan O'Neill, Hulseman, and Falcon formed a second-place squad with a mark of 3:19.83.

John Carroll will make the lengthy trip to Wilmington College tomorrow in the final swim meet of the regular season and the OAC finale. JCU's divers, meanwhile, will compete with Ashland University at the Johnson Natatorium at 4 pm since the Quakers do not have boards.

Saturday's meet is set to begin at 1 pm.
