Women's Tennis Returns to the Win Column at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio – A long trip south to the Ohio River proved to be fruitful, as John Carroll Women's Tennis returns home with a win.

The Blue Streaks got back on track with a 7-2 win over the Pioneers.

With the conquest, the Blue Streaks advance to 4-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play with just two matches left in the regular season.

The Pioneers got a victory at #1 doubles, as Mia Zivkovic and Felicity Kolb lost their first OAC match of the year in an 8-6 slugfest. But JCU did stroll to victory at #2, as Caroline Chandler and Kaylyn Gimbel cruised. Emma Boreman and Peyton Crumpler worked well together at #3 doubles with an 8-4 win, the duo's second in OAC play.

Zivkovic also dropped at #1 singles, losing to one of the OAC's top players in Isabela Paixao (a Ferris State transfer), 4-6, 4-6. Just below at #2 singles, Kolb got back in the win column with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Gimbel took more time in the first set, 6-4, but fired through the second set, 6-0, at the #3 spot.

Chandler catapulted past her foe at #4 singles, showcasing her strong skills in a 6-0, 6-0 win. At the #5 spot, Crumpler looked good in a 6-2, 6-2 win. And Boreman finalized things with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win at the #6 position.

John Carroll will return to action on Wednesday, hosting Baldwin Wallace at the Short Family Tennis Center.
