Women's Tennis Drops Early Season Match to the College of Wooster

STOW, Ohio – John Carroll Women's Tennis hosted a perennial Division III stalwart on Saturday evening in the second match of the spring.

Indoors at the LaTuchie Tennis Center, the Blue Streaks got a couple wins, but not enough to defeat The College of Wooster.

The Blue Streaks lost to the Fighting Scots, 7-2, dropping to 0-2 on the young season.

Voss & Duckett form a great duo at #3 doubles

While the Blue Streaks lost both #1 and #2 doubles, the Blue & Gold tabbed a victory at the third doubles spot.

Jaclyn Voss and Emily Duckett teamed up for an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles. The two JCU stars defeated Wooster's Abby Kushner Benson and Kim Nguyen.

Zivkovic's fierce fight

Mia Zivkovic roared for a victory at #1 singles. It wasn't easy, but the Broadview Heights native got the job done.

The junior won the first set via a tiebreaker, 7-5, to open the match right with a 7-6 set one win. Her opponent, Otilia Oita, responded by taking the second set, 6-3. So, with the team match decided, the two played a match tiebreaker. Zivkovic proved to be the first to 10, taking the contest with a 10-5 conquest.

Up next

Barring any schedule additions, the Blue Streaks will be back in action next in Florida in early March.
