Men's Swimming & Diving Rolls Past Oberlin & Notre Dame College at Home

The Blue Streaks remain unbeaten in dual meets this season. 
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Taking on close neighbor Notre Dame College and non-conference opponent Oberlin College, John Carroll Men's Swimming and Diving opened up December with a strong showing.  

The Blue Streaks defeated both foes of the night with a score of 232-31 against NDC and 168-120 vs. Oberlin. 

The men started off strong with taking first and third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Forrest Campbell, Bryce Liddell, Bart Kubis, and Daniel Argalious brought home the win in the first race of the night with a time of 1:34.83. 

In the longest race of the night, the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Sam Kmet took home second with a time of 10:15.01 and Aidan Hulseman following behind in third. Joe Nadur easily took first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:45.30, and fellow Blue Streak Aidan O'Neill following close behind in third. 

 The fourth race of the night ended in a flash with Blue Streak Forrest Campbell claiming second place with 24.44. Another two podium finishes were racked up in the 50 Yard Breaststroke by Bart Kubis at 27.18 in second and Patrick Branch at 27.96 in third. JCU once again split the podium with a first and third finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Bryce Liddell earned first at 51.54 and Forrest Campbell followed closely behind in third at 53.00. 

In a flurry of splashes, Daniel Argalious won the 50 Yard Freestyle with 21.27, Owen Holm took second at 21.98, and Dexter Zielinski took third at 22.83, sweeping the race for JCU. Daniel Argalious has been out of commission since the first race of the season at Westminster College. His return at home has shown that he is back and better than ever. 

"It was great to see Daniel back in action," said Head Coach Tanner Barton. "His anchor leg in the medley relay was a great way for the men to begin the meet."

Returning from the break, JCU struck fast with Bryce Liddell earning first at 48.13 and Owen Holm earning second at 48.51 in the 100 Yard Freestyle. In the second heat of the race Patrick Branch took the last podium spot with a time of 49.13. Forrest Campbell gained a third place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 54.66. Luke Novak took a podium spot in heat two of the Backstroke with a 54.31 earning him second place in the race. 

Freshman Bart Kubis won the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 59.42, beating out second place by .01 of a second. Joe Nadur took third in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with 1:00.15 The 500 Free gave the Blue Streaks two more top-3 finishes with Sam Kmet at 5:06.84 and Aidan O'Neill finishing with 5:14.78. In the last race before the second diving break, Liddell brought home second with 23.59 and Holm brought home third with 23.70. 

Tonight marked the first time three Blue Streaks competed in diving. Jacob Clark, Andrew Chiappetta, and Clay Bozsvai showed what they learned and rocked it. Clay Bozsvai placed third for the men with a score 118.5. 

The last pair of races started with the 100 Individual Medley where Joe Nadur took first place at 54.42. The final race of the night was the 200 Yard Free Relay where once again JCU took first and third. Dom Falcon, Daniel Argalious, Patrick Branch, and Owen Holm earned the first spot with a time of 1:26.40. While Luke Novak, Aidan O'Neill, Bailey Parsons, and Dex Zielinski rounded out the top-3 finishes for the night, earning third with 1:31.09. 

"I am extremely pleased with how our men and women came together and competed following the Thanksgiving Break. We had some impressive races in the pool and new dives on the board," said Barton.

The Blue Streaks will be back in the water next Friday, December 8 at home against the University of Findlay to finish up the semester.
