Baseball Drops Wednesday Matinee at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- John Carroll Baseball dropped a weekday road trip contest at Allegheny College, 7-0.

John Carroll came into the matchup 2-7, after picking up two wins in a spring break series in Florida. The Blue Streaks did not have an easy schedule amongst their return, as they dueled against the 5-4 Allegheny Gators.

Senior Jon Ambro received the call to start against Allegheny and pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits, taking the loss.

The Gators began their scoring run in the first inning with a single from freshman outfielder Brady Nolin, giving them the early lead.

Senior infielder Jacob Budnar followed the trend with a sac fly in the third inning to advance their lead to two runs.

John Carroll answered back with singles from senior outfielder Ben Surman and sophomore infielder Joe Olsavsky. This quick rally by the Blue Streaks was unfortunately cut short, and JCU would fail to get another hit the rest of the game.

The Gators added a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh, ensuring there would be no JCU comeback.

Olsavsky finished the contest 1-for-3 and a stolen base.

The Blue Streaks will look to bounce back this weekend on a road series against University of Mary Washington.
