Men's Swimming & Diving Wins 4 Events at #8 Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio – Against the #8 team in NCAA Division II, John Carroll Men's Swimming & Diving nearly pulled off an upset.

The Blue Streaks, freshly minted in the CSCAA Top 25 this week, dropped a narrow 150-129 loss at Findlay on Saturday. 

John Carroll won four swims in a nice day for the Blue & Gold. 

Results

The day began on a great note with second and third-place efforts in the 200 Medley Relay. Jonathan Simoes, Joe Nadur, Bryce Liddell, and Daniel Argalious combined for a time of 1:35.05. JCU's Luke Novak, Patrick Branch, Owen Holm, and Michael Heller formed a nice quartet with a time of 1:36.52. 

The Blue Streaks followed it up with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1000 Free. Aidan O'Neill topped the standings with a winning time of 10:29.83. Nick Mudry touched the wall next with a time of 10:35.08. Aidan Hulseman completed the sweep with a time of 10:58.16.

Joe Nadur led the pack in the 200 Free. The young star flew for a time of 1:44.90. Bailey Parsons also repped JCU in the top three with a third-place time of 1:49.14, while Jacob Farr followed in fourth at 1:49.53.

Nadur claimed another conquest in the 100 IM. The young star soared to first with a time of 52.57. 

The Blue Streaks did solidly in the rest of the sprint events. Liam McDonnell tried his hand in the 50 Back and came in second place in 24.58, before getting second again in the 100 Back with a time of 52.01. Simoes followed closely in both races, herding third in the 100 Back in 53.37 and fourth in the 50 Back at 24.87. Branch and Jacob Clark posted times of 27.54 and 29.02 for second and fourth in the 50 Breaststroke. Later, Nadur nabbed third in the 100 Breast (58.63) and Branch touched in at fourth (1:00.96).

Michael Heller conquered a quick race in the 50 Free, roaring for first with a time of 22.10. Jake Farr also hit 22 seconds with a time of 22.43 for third. Heller and Farr later snagged third and fourth in the 100 Free. In the 100 Fly, Liddell, Holm, and Argalious finished in a pack, taking third through fifth. Later, McDonnell and Liddell occupied second and third in the 50 Fly with respective times of 23.02 and 23.06. 

More success followed in the 500 Free. Bailey Parsons got a W in the event, winning by a wide margin. The Ashland native roared for a time of 5:00.39 to reign victorious. Andrew Chiappetta snuck in at second with a time of 5:08.13. 

The meet concluded with the 200 Free Relay and a nice 2-3 finish. Heller, Liddell, Argalious, and McDonnell tore through the pool with a time of 1:24.55. Aidan O'Neill, Branch, Simoes, and Novak combined for a time of 1:27.45, touching the wall shortly after.

The Blue Streaks will now have a respite before the team's annual trip to Florida and the South Florida Classic in early January.
