Women's Soccer Stumbles at No. 10 Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Outlined against a blue-gray September sky, the Blue Streaks took on the highly-touted Case Western Reserve University Spartans on Thursday.

On this chilly night, a fairly even first half was followed by a dominant second half showing from the Spartans, who proved to be as good as their ranking.

No. 10 CWRU earned a 7-0 win in the non-conference showdown.

Danielle DelGuidice played excellent in the opening half, turning away Spartan shots left and right. The Blue Streaks' defensive core held strong as the midfielders worked the ball well up towards the forwards.

The Blue Streaks kept up with one of the nation's best in the first half, as the scoreboard held a tie at 0-0 after one half.

The Spartans turned up their play a notch, as they registered two early second-half goals that were placed in "any leaguer" territory.

Case Western added a few late goals as the game ended at a final score of 7-0.

The Blue Streaks, whose contest against the Spartans was delayed a day, will retake the field this weekend on the road at Washington & Jefferson.
