Gorenflo Tallies Season-High 4 Goals as Men’s Lacrosse Cruises Onward On

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

John Carroll University Men's Lacrosse undoubtedly had nothing in need of any fixing on Saturday afternoon. Th Blue Streaks are a well-oiled machine.

Spring was both in the air and in the steps of the Blue Streaks in a dominant victory over the Wilmington College Fightin' Quakers. After leading with a score of 10-1 at the end of the first quarter, the team never looked back. Matching their season and program-high, the Blue Streaks piled on 32 goals for the day.

Entering the afternoon averaging 20.88 goals per game, the Blue Streaks exceeded all expectations. The team eclipsed 20 goals midway through the second quarter thanks to key contributors such as Skyler Blake and Jared Gorenflo

Blake finished the day with 10 goals, pushing his tally on the season to an unfathomable 63 goals.

Gorenflo tallied 4 goals for the day, which now puts him at 5 goals on the season. Gorenflo finished with arguably his season-best game of the year.

Defensively, the Blue Streaks protected their own net, thanks to their goaltending quartet of Jon Gaglio, Oliver Hammond, Jeremy Urban, and Johnny Wilson III. After only giving up one goal per quarter, the quartet kept the Quakers locked down.

Additional defensive support came via Jake Caress, Jacob Hoexum, Clayton Karam, Conor Ryan, and Ian Venard. Each player tallied at least 2 caused turnovers to their stats on the day.

Entering the second half with a score of 24-2, the Blue Streaks maintained their dominance and closed out the remainder of the game, thanks to their team chemistry. With 17 assists on the day, the Blue Streaks scored via teamwork on 53% of their goals on the afternoon.

The John Carroll University Blue Streaks are on the road next weekend, heading down to Marietta College. There they will face the Pioneers on Saturday, April 17, at 7 pm.
