Seniors Shine For John Carroll As Men's Swimming & Diving Stays Unbeaten In Dual Meet Season

John Carroll is on a mission of looking for its first undefeated dual meet season in more than a decade. It is a feat that has not been completed since 2003-2004. The Blue Streaks got one step closer to reaching their goal after defeating Baldwin Wallace, 209-87, at Johnson Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Blue Streak seniors Eric Andrews, Mason Beck, Jackson Cooper, Patrick Folan, Alex Nucerino, Michael O'Mera, Matt Ramsey, and Billy Rhodes were recognized for their accomplishments before they took the pool for one final home meet of their careers.

Kicking off the day for the Blue Streaks, the 200 Medley Relay "B" team consisting of Jonathan Simoes, Forrest Campbell, Beck, and Adam Lenz took first place with a time of 1:36.84. 

In the 1000 yard distance freestyle race, Andrews took home the top honors on his senior day with a final time of 11:05.14. It was his first race win as a Blue Streak.
 
Erik Sriubas got an opportunity to swim a 200 Free today, and he made it count by winning in 1:46.23. Lenz was the runner-up in 1:47.58.

Cooper and Evan Gainous had a 1-2 punch in the men's 100 backstroke with respective times of 55.12 and 55.72.

The Blue Streaks tabbed another first place finish by freshman Jonah Venos in the men's 100 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 31.69. He also took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.60.

Sophomore Ben Rancilio finished the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.97, good enough for first place. Max Campbell claimed second place honors (2:03.95).

Rancilio would later win the 500 Free (5:00.04), with Simoes taking second (5:08.23)

Forrest Cambell garnered the first place spot in the 50 freestyle (22.08 seconds) just .04 seconds ahead of runner-up Westin Fishel, posting a time of 22.12 seconds.

The Blue Streaks swept the podium in the 200 backstroke event courtesy of Lenz with a first place finish (2:03.18) followed by Aidan O'Neill (2:06.37) and Gainous (2:06.61). 

Nick Mudry answered the bell in the 200 Breast, winning in a time of 2:15.37.

Sriubas finished first in the 100 butterfly race in 54.32, giving him two wins for the day.

Jack Lausin and Christian Litwinowicz both had personal best scores on both boards today for diving. Lausin was the runner-up on both 1- and 3-meter.

In the final event of the day, the Blue Streaks swept the podium once again in the 400 free relay with their B team (Simoes, Fishel, Dane Bozsvai, Lenz) taking first place, the A team (Jake Farr, Derek Rymers, Michael Heller, Cooper) in second, and the C team in third (Forrest Campbell, Matthew Pietsch, O'Neill, Liam McDonnell)

With the win, the Blue Streaks stayed undefeated this season with a record of 5-0.

John Carroll will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 24, when they travel to Ashland, OH to take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.
