But the John Carroll men's tennis team fended off a worthy foe Wednesday in Westerville, as the Blue Streaks went on the road to defeat the Otterbein Cardinals, 6-3, in a battle of unbeaten Ohio Athletic Conference opponents.
JCU won two of the three doubles and four of the six singles matches to remain unblemished in league play, upping its record to 5-0 this season.
All three doubles matches were close, withÂ
Gustavo Garcia and
Andrew Triner winning  8-6 in the #2 match andÂ
Parker Holyn and
Adi Jhapulling off an 8-5 win at #3.
In singles play, Andrew Siciliano won a big match at #1 singles as did
Gustavo Garcia at #3.
David Sinense lost in a tiebreaker at #2.
All three of the #4, #5 and #6 matches went the distance, with both Jha (#4) and Triner (#5) rallying from a set down for their wins.
JCU is now 5-9 overall and 5-0 in the OAC. Otterbein falls to 14-2 and 4-1 in league play.
