John Carroll had been trying to recapture its magic from previous season on the offensive side of the ball all season.
The magic was found in of all places New Concord, Ohio.
The Blue Streaks scored 12 goals in the opening period as part of a 29-2 dismantling of Muskingum Saturday afternoon in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The 29 goals broke the previous record of 25 set against Wilmington in 2017.
A total of 15 different players found the net this afternoon, led by
Logan Collins with five.
Kevin Hack (3),
Skyler Blake (3),
Patrick O'Grady (3),
Brendan Whitty (3),
Alan Adams (2) and Matthew Fete (2) all had multiple goals as part of the record-setting effort.
It was not just a record-setting day on offense.
Clayton Karam had a program-best 20 ground balls this afternoon, breaking the previous mark of 14 set by
Kyle Patterson, also against Muskingum, in 2017.
The Blue Streaks outshot the Muskies, 66-6, and had a 61-13 edge in ground balls.
The win pushes the Blue Streaks' record to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the OAC. Muskingum falls to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.
