JCU Drops Finale Against Wilmington But Latches On To Four Seed In Upcoming League Tourney

Box Score Two second half goals by visiting Wilmington proved to be too big a hill to climb, and the host John Carroll Blue Streaks fell by a 2-0 score in the regular season finale Saturday.

JCU took on the Quakers in a cold and rainy game in University Heights. This was the last game that the Blue Streaks would play in the regular season in a bid to get a higher position in the OAC Tournament. 
    
The Blue Streaks and Quakers Were scoreless in the first 45 minutes, but the Quakers outshot the Blue Streaks 11-3. John Carroll Goalie Danielle DelGiudice had four saves in the first half, and half of them were off or corner kicks. 

In the 56th minute, Wilmington sophomore Courtney Ryan netted the first goal for the Quakers, which was also her first career goal.

In the 70th minute Junior Abby Spirk netted a deep goal 25 yards out with the assist by Tiffany Hayes.

For the Blue Streaks, Macey Malinky and Jaclyn Audino lead the Blue Streaks in shots with four shots apiece. DelGiudice had five saves on the night. 

The Blue Streaks fall to 9-6-3 and 5-3-1 in the OAC and the Quakers improve to 9-7-1 and 4-5 in the OAC.
    
Both teams will make the OAC Tournament next week. The Blue Streaks will be the #4 seed and will play again at home on Tuesday against Baldwin Wallace at 7:00 p.m. Wilmington will be the #6 seed and will visit Otterbein.
