John Carroll had the first seven recorded shots of the game, and finished with a 22-13 advantage in that category.
Unfortunately for the Blue Streaks, the only two shots that mattered were the last two taken in the match, both by Kenyon.
Olivia Dion's first attempt was deflected away from the goal by JCU keeper
Danielle DelGiudice, but Samantha Hayes was in the right spot at the right time and chipped the rebound into the back of the net for a 1-0 victory for the visitors at the 92:20 mark.
Kenyon had never before won in University Heights, and for a large portion fo the match, that seemed a likely outcome.
JCU had numerous chances throughout the match, putting 11 shots on goal in regulation. But All-North Coast Athletic Conference goalkeeper Jillian Countey was up to the challenge for the Ladies, and turned the Blue Streaks away time and again.
Meanwhile, the JCU defense was stout for most of the night. Midway through the second half, the shot count was in John Carroll's favor by a 20-4 margin. But toward the end of regulation, Kenyon began to find some opportunities, and that momentum spilled over into extra time.
Reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week
Bailey Fischer, who had five goals in two matches last week, tallied six shots on the night to lead all players.Â
Kenyon improved to 4-2-1 with the win and is now 3-0-1 in its last four outings, while John Carroll slipped to 3-4-1, ending a modest two-match winning streak.
