Early Goals Get Blue Streaks Off On Wrong Foot Versus Red Hot Otterbein

Otterbein continued to roll in University Heights as its winning streak was extended to eight games as they defeated the host John Carroll Blue Streaks, 5-1, Wednesday night at Don Shula Stadium.

It was very apparent that the Cardinals came ready to play as Otterbein scored in the first minute of the game on an Emily Ganz header.

15 minutes later, a Blue Streak tackle in the box set up a penalty kick goal by Bella Shivley. She also finished the day with three assists, which now puts her second in the OAC in that category.

To round out the scoring in the first half, Delaney Earl scored on a header in the 30tth minute, giving the visitors a 3-0 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, John Carroll got on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute when Jaclyn Audino finished off a free kick near the box from Brittrany Dufalla, It was the second goal of the season for Audino and the 12th of her career.

Whatever thoughts of a JCU comeback were dashed when the Cardinals responded two minutes later as Earl netted her second goal of the game, scoring her team leading 10th goal of the season. That goal now puts her in second place in the OAC in goals scored.

The Cardinals put the finishing touches on their high octane night with a Myiah Kelly goal with 14 minutes left in the 2nd half. Otterbein has scored 12 goals in its last two conference matches.

Otterbein improves to 10-2 with a perfect 4-0 record in the OAC as John Carroll moves to 4-8-1 with a 1-3 OAC record on the season.

The Cardinals will head home and take on Heidelberg on Saturday and the Blue Streaks will hit the road and play Ohio Northern on the same day.
