Box Score John Carroll ended its three game road trip with a 0-0 tie against the Fighting Scots of the College of Wooster.
With the tie, the Blue Streaks are now 1-1-1 through the first three matches of the season.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, where neither team could find the back of the net. JCU recorded eight shots compared to Wooster's four shots.
In the 65th minute,
Bailey Fischer found an opening on the far side, crossing the ball into the box finding
Jaclyn Audino, but the shot attempt was saved by Mandy Ireton.
Wooster almost broke through in the 85th minute, but Rhianna Guarnera made a clutch save, preventing the Fighting Scots from scoring.
After 90 minutes the game remained scoreless and the Blue and Gold headed into extra time for the first time this season.
Erica White attempted a shot point blank in the 95 minute, but Guarnera made a great save keeping the score tied 0-0.
John Carroll made one more attempt at goal in the 109 minute,
Lexie Keller's shot was saved by Ireton, essentially preserving the 0-0 tie. This was just John Carroll's third scoreless draw over the last five seasons, and the first since playing 110 scoreless minutes against Wilmington on October 1, 2016.
Both teams had 14 shots, JCU had five on goal, while Wooster had eight.
The Blue Streaks will have their home opener Saturday, September 9 against Centre College. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
