The second OAC dual competition of the season showed promise in the middle five weight classes, but the Blue Streaks fell just short as the evening culminated.
 
The John Carroll University wrestling team (5-2, 0-2 OAC) fell to the Student Princes of Heidelberg University (3-2, 1-0 OAC) on Friday evening, 22-16, in a tightly contested dual at the Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin, Ohio.
 
Tonight's match was the first of two road duals in the span of less than 24 hours for JCU.
 
Heidelberg started off the night with a win by forfeit at 125 pounds and a decision win at 133 pounds, but the Blue Streaks answered by rattling off five straight victories.
 
Freshman Jarrod Brezovec put the Blue Streaks on the board with a 16-4 major decision victory at the 141-pound division.
 
Junior Jarrad Lasko followed winning by decision, 4-2, at 149 pounds. Then, following the trend, sophomore Austin Victor won by a close 4-3 decision at 157 pounds.
 
Freshman Vittorio Santillo (165) followed his fourth place showing at the RIT Invitational, winning his first OAC match by a 4-1 decision.
 
Senior Thomas McNulty rounded out the five-match streak with a 7-2 decision at 174 pounds.
 
The final three weight classes were the deciding factor, as Heidelberg won the final three bouts of the evening by major decision, fall, and decision, respectively..
 
The Blue Streaks will continue into their second half of the two-day road spurt, as JCU will take on Division I Cleveland State University tomorrow afternoon from Woodling Gymnasium. First match on the campus of CSU scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
