The John Carroll women's soccer team finished the season on the strongest of notes, scoring 11 goals over their final three games -- all victories -- to emphatically secure third place in the Ohio Athletic Conference,.
The latest goal eruption took place Saturday in New Concord, as the Blue Streaks posted three first half goals and two in the second half to defeat Muskingum, 5-1.
JCU peppered a season-high 39 shots, 22 of which were on goal, to keep up the red-hot offense it has displayed as of late.
It took a while for the shots to fins the net, but once they did, the proverbial lock was broken.
Katie O'Donnell got the Blue Streaks on the scoreboard with a goal in the 28th minute off an assist from
Jaclyn Audino.
Bailey Fischer followed less than three minutes later.
In the 38th minute, Audino got a feed from Fischer to push the lead to 3-0 before the break.
Sydney Scello got in the act with a goal just 182 seconds into the second half, with
Mollie Zoul on the assists.
Muskingum dented the scoreboard in the 72nd minute, but one of the best goals of the year concluded the scoring, as
Ainsley Gialamas posted her first career tally off a well directed corner kick in the final minute of play.
Rhianna Guarnera made nine saves for the win.
The Blue Streaks played virtually the entire roster, and after enjoying a 34-1 edge in shots the first half, finished a more reasonable 39-18 advantage.
John Carroll is now 10-5-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the OAC.
The Blue Streaks are scheduled to host an OAC Tournament quarterfinal round game Monday night at 7 p.m., against #6 seed Mount Union. JCU defeated Mount Union erarlier this week, 4-0.
