John Carroll played the number five team in the nation on Saturday and the defending North Coast Athletic Conference champions on Sunday.
That was quite a season-opening weekend slate of opponents for the 2016 Blue Streaks.
Preseason All-America forward Destinie Graves figured in both goals for the host Centre College Colonels on Saturday evening to lead her team to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Streaks. Centre, an NCAA Division III championship semifinalist from a year ago, outshot the Blue Streaks 20-7 and used an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.Â
JCU then faced DePauw University in a neutral site game on Sunday in Danville, Kentucky. The Tigers scored twice in each half to post a 4-0 win over the Blue Streaks.
DePauw outshot John Carroll 19-8 and won the corner advantage 12-1.Â
JCU, now 0-2-0 on the year, returns home for its Shula Stadium opener on Wednesday, Sept. 7, against the College of Wooster.
