Box Score John Carroll has not been slowed often in conference play this year, but Capital did its best to present a formidable challenge in the semifinal round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on a late Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
The Crusaders threw a brief scare into the Blue Streaks before the top seeds got on a roll and produced a 5-1 victory to advanace to the championship match for the second consecutive season.

John Carroll beat Capital and did not come close to dropping a doubles match en route to an 8-1 win in the regular season meeting. But tha changed this afternoon when Jared Judson and Luke Buchanan surprised
Scott Adsit and
Dillon O'Brien by an 8-2 score in the #2 game to take a 1-0 lead. After the JCU match on April 3, Buchanan and Judson became a doubles pairing and improved to 10-1 with the win with the only loss to nationally ranked Case Reserve. Adist and O'Brien were 7-0 in league play this year.
Jad Abdul-Aal and
David Sinense tied the match by winning in the #1 slot, earning an 8-3 decision against Beau Streety and C.J. Martin.Â
The match titlted in John Carroll's favor when
Nick Siciliano and
Tyler Cole broke away from a 5-5 tie to beat Dale Booher and Santino DiMichaelangelo, 8-5, at #3 doubles.
Once singles play began, it was all Blue Streaks. Abdul-Aal and Sinense delivered quick victories at #1 and #2, putting JCU in position to close out the match. With
Alex Guthrie winning the first set in the #3 match, Siciliano winning the first set at #4 and Cole winning the first set at #5, the race was on as to who would reach the finish line first. It would be Cole, who ended the match with a 6-1 6-1 win over Gian Carlo DiMichaelangelo.
John Carroll improved to 13-7 on the year while Capital ended its season at 11-12.
The Blue Streaks, who won thje tournament championship in 2015, advance to the title match for a second consecutive year. They will face #2 seed Baldwin Wallace in a match originally scheduled for 2:00 p.m., but may start at 12 noon to avoid rain that may move into the area mid afternoon Saturday.
