Box Score John Carroll dominated in doubles, then did the same in singles to record an impressive 9-0 victory over crosstown and conference rival Baldwin Wallace in a match played at Cleveland State University.
Box ScoreJCU won the three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-5.
Lauren O'Malley and
Madisyn Rini won in the #1 match, as did
Catherine Engel and
Jennifer Stroyne at #2, and
Nicolette Bourlas and
Natalie Bourlas at #3. O'Malley and Rini improved to 7-1 in dual meets this season (7-4) overall. Engel and Stroyne are now 6-2 this year and the Bourlas sisters are 8-5 as a doubles team.
In singles play, O'Malley rolled to a 6-0 6-0 win at #1 singles over Kelsey Blatt to improve to 14-1 overall and 10-0 in dual meets this season.
Molly Traverso also posted a 6-0 6-0 win at #6 singles, beating Kathleen Moser to move her record to 8-0 on the year.
Also winning in singles play were Rini at #3, Engel at #4 and
Katherine Devine at #5.
The only item left in doubt was the shutout, and
Nicolette Bourlas worked hard to secure that, as she won a hotly contested battle with Imani Robinson, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
John Carroll is now 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the OAC. Baldwin Wallace falls to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the OAC.
