Box ScoreFour singles matches went to three sets as the John Carroll University men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 5-4 match to visiting Otterbein inside the Oakwood Club in South Euclid, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
John Carroll trailed 2-1 after doubles and put up a valiant effort in singles play.
Jad Abdul-Aal and
Nick Siciliano won their respective singles matches 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-1 in the Nos. 1 and 4 positions.
The other four matches needed the third set to decide with the Cardinals pulling out wins in three of the four matches.
Dillon O'Brien won his three-set match at No. 6 singles 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
The doubles pairing of
Alex Guthrie and
Kyle Mollison won 8-1 in the No. 2 position.
Otterbein improved to 7-9, 4-1 OAC while John Carroll fell to 3-11, 2-1 OAC.
The men's tennis team is slated to return to action with a 3:30 p.m. match on Wednesday, April 15 against Heidelberg.
