For the second time in three years, the John Carroll women's tennis team got the best of its crosstown and conference rivals, knocking off Baldwin Wallace, 8-1, Wednesday afternoon in Berea, Ohio.
Box ScoreJCU started off by winning two of the three doubles matches.
Katherine Devine and
Tracy Gibson posted an 8-4 win at the #2 slot, while
Ivana Didovic and Josephine Miller edged Claire Watts and Whitney Yoder by an 8-6 count in the #3 position.
The Blue Streaks were then able to sweep the six singles matches.
Catherine Engel at #1, Devine at #2, Gibson at #3 and Didovic at #5 all won in straight sets.
The singles sweep was completed when
Anna Stein held off Mackenzie Donalson by a score of 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) in the #4 match, and Miller rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) over Yoder at #6.
John Carroll improved to 6-8 overall and 2-2 in the OAC, while Baldwin Wallace fell to 6-11 and 2-3 in league play.
