For Second Time In Three Years, JCU Women's Tennis Gets Best Of Crosstown Rivals

For the second time in three years, the John Carroll women's tennis team got the best of its crosstown and conference rivals, knocking off Baldwin Wallace, 8-1, Wednesday afternoon in Berea, Ohio.

JCU started off by winning two of the three doubles matches. Katherine Devine and Tracy Gibson posted an 8-4 win at the #2 slot, while Ivana Didovic and Josephine Miller edged Claire Watts and Whitney Yoder by an 8-6 count in the #3 position.

The Blue Streaks were then able to sweep the six singles matches. Catherine Engel at #1, Devine at #2, Gibson at #3 and Didovic at #5 all won in straight sets.

The singles sweep was completed when Anna Stein held off Mackenzie Donalson by a score of 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) in the #4 match, and Miller rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) over Yoder at #6.

John Carroll improved to 6-8 overall and 2-2 in the OAC, while Baldwin Wallace fell to 6-11 and 2-3 in league play.
