Men's Lacrosse Storms Past Wilmington

Box Score The John Carroll University men's lacrosse team was searching for someone to pick the team up after not scoring in the first quarter. Michael Roth answer the called.

Backed by eight second quarter goals and seven third quarter goals John Carroll rolled to the 18-6 win over Wilmington on Saturday afternoon in Wilmington, Ohio.

Declan O'Grady found the back of the net off of a feed from Roth with 13:19 left in the second quarter which would spark a 4-0 run over the next three minutes. Roth scored two of his four goals in the stretch. The freshman would go on to finish with four goals and eight assists.

Wilminton's Nick Perry put the Fightin' Quakers on the board with 8:41 remaining in the half.

John Carroll responded going right back to work with a 4-0 run over a five minute stretch to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

The Blue and Gold put the game out of reach with a 9-0 run in the second half to open up a 17-3 lead on the Fightin' Quakers. During the stretch, O'Grady ripped three straight goals and four of his game-high six goals.

JCU enjoyed a 43-27 shot advantage and won 16 faceoffs.

Stephen Leous and Keegan Flinter both also finished with a pair of goals.

John Carroll travels to Mount Union for a 5 p.m. contest on Wednesday, April 30 in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
