Box Score After going 3-0-2 over its last five contests, the John Carroll University women's soccer team entered its annual tilt against Case Western Reserve University on a hot-stretch for its final non-conference tune up prior to OAC play. For the second straight year, the Spartans netted a trio of goals in the second half to pull away from the Blue Streaks.

With its 4-0 loss at the hands of Case, John Carroll falls to 3-4-3 on the season while the Spartans improve to 5-4-0.

Jessica Sabers set the tone for the Spartans netting her second goal of the contest just 55 seconds in to the second half off of a rebound to put Case up 2-0.

Nicki Bohrer and the Blue Streaks mounted a scoring opportunity with the ensuing possession to try to half the Case lead but Bohrer was turned back by Case goalkeeper Abbey Smith.

Despite not scoring its second goal until the 45th minute Case had John Carroll's defense scrambling all first half blasting off six shots in a three-plus minute stretch halfway through the half. For the game the Spartans finished with a 23-6 shot advantage over the Blue Streaks.

Makenzie Best (71st minute) and Jennifer Zajic (82nd minute) rounded out the scoring for the Spartans.

Kay Akerly gave JCU its first scoring opportunity with two of her team-best four shots in the first five minutes of the game. Ellen Piccillo sailed her attempt high in the 38th minute in what turned out to be JCU's final scoring opportunity of the first half.

The Blue Streaks open up OAC play with a 4:30 p.m. tilt at Capital on Saturday, Oct. 5.
