After losing by a wide margin in its previous matchup with the Yellow Jackets, the John Carroll University men's basketball team looked to bounce back in its penultimate home game of the 2012-2013 regular season.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to an early lead, however, and despite a solid second half performance from JCU, the Jackets swept the season series with a 70-54 win in University Heights.

The first half saw slow play early on, before Baldwin Wallace displayed accuracy from the field, sinking jump shots on its way to a double-digit lead midway through the period. Making nearly half its field goals, BW used five different scorers on three-point shots, while JCU shot just 33.3 percent and did not sink a three until the closing minutes of the first.

BW headed into the locker room with a 40-20 advantage.

After a sluggish start to the second, the Blue Streaks tightened up on defense and were more aggressive on offense, making several trips to the free throw line and cutting the deficit to 14. These efforts proved too little, too late, however, as BW refused to let up and relinquish its lead.

When asked about the game, head coach Mike Moran highlighted his team's inability to shoot and make free throws down the stretch.

"You've got to make shots," commented Moran. "We missed a lot of good opportunities in the first half and in the paint. We've got to take advantage of free throws, and we have to find some offensive thrust."

Starring in the losing effort for John Carroll was sophomore guard David Hendrickson, who finished the night with 14 points and four rebounds.

With this loss, JCU falls to 10-11 overall and 7-8 in conference play. Up next for the Blue Streaks is Wilmington College. John Carroll will visit the Quakers at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
