John Carroll reached rare air as it won its fifth consecutive match with an impressive 8-1 victory over Baldwin-Wallace College Wednesday in Berea.
Box Score
The Blue Streaks stood at 5-3 following a league-opening loss to Ohio Northern on March 24. But since that setback, JCU has defeated five league opponents to win ten matches in a season for the first time since 2006.
The good news began in doubles, where JCU produced a clean sweep.
Maria Ciccolini and
Cassie Simmelink outlasted Rebecca Mittler and Morgan Baker, 9-8. The Blue Streaks duo survived an 18-point tiebreaker, winning 10-8.
Tracy Gibson and
Joanne Weber served up an 8-5 win at #2 doubles, as did
Erin Davies and
Hannah Baumwell at #3.
From there, JCU would win five of six singles matches, all in straight sets.
John Carroll is now 10-3 overall and 5-1 in league play. Baldwin-Wallace dips to 8-13, 3-4 in the OAC.
