Box Score 2 It was a bit daunting, even on paper.
A ten game set in Florida, followed by six games in Ohio and Kentucky, was how the 2012 softball season began for the John Carroll. That 16-game "road trip" came to a conclusion Thursday afternoon with a split at Ohio Wesleyan.
A 2-0 win in game one and a 7-5 setback in game two left the Blue Streaks' record at 13-3. Despite not yet stepping foot on its own field, John Carroll has its best record in program history through 16 games.

Brittany Danilov was electric in the opener, going all seven innings and throwing a five-hit shutout. She struck out eight Battling Bishops as she improved to 8-2 on the year and 59-28 in her career in what was the 99th pitching appearance as a Blue Streak.

Heather Hurley plated runs for JCU.
John Carroll led the nightcap 3-0 before Ohio Wesleyan erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Streaks closed within one run at 6-5 in the top of the sixth, but the Bishops added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame. Trish Pike suffered her first loss of the season.
Colleen Brady homered for John Carroll and had two RBI, as did Angelia Locey.
