Box Score With first place in the conference on the line, John Carroll and Ohio Northern fought to a scoreless first half, before the Polar Bears put two goals on the board to pull away from the Blue Streaks on Saturday in Ada, Ohio.
JCU took more shots (5-4) and more corners (3-2) in the first period, but came up empty. The second half, however, belonged to Northern.
The Polar Bears struck first in the 48th minute when Keegan Ross notched his 11th goal of the season on assists from Jeremy Barnes and Austin Windsor. Adding cushion in the 74th minute was Chris Matejka, whose unassisted goal finished the match's scoring.
Shots were at a premium, as ONU (nine) edged the Blue Streaks (six).
Brian Potocnik finished with three shots to lead the visitors.
With the loss, John Carroll falls to 8-6-2 overall, 4-1-2 overall while the Polar Bears stay perfect in the league with a 7-0 record, 16-2 overall.
