Box Scores:
Game One /
Game Two
In the opener, the only runs in the contest came in the John Carroll half of the third inning.
Erin Riccardi (North Canton, Hoover) drew a one-out walk, and then
Olivia Mathews (Suffield, OH, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) followed with a two-run home run.
For a game that featured just nine hits combined between the two teams, the two runs would stand up. John Carroll hurler
Brittany Danilov (Canfield, OH, Canfield) was dominant, striking out ten batters while walking just one and allowing four hits. Of the hour hits, just one was for extra bases.
The second game featured a number of clutch hits off John Carroll bats.
Angela Vistocco (Victor, NY, Victor) got things rolling with a two RBI hit in the first. In the third inning, Mathews came through again with an RBI double.
Starting pitcher
Trisha Pike (Perry, NY, Notre Dame Batavia) helped her own cause in the fourth inning with a three-run home run to open a 6-1 lead for the Blue Streaks.
Additional runs were provided by Mathews' second home run of the day -- a solo shot in the fifth -- and an RBI double by
Michelle Murphy (Erie, PA, Villa Maria Academy) in the sixth.
Pike had four strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the year. Offensively, Vistocco and Pike each had three RBI, while Mathews and
Mackenzie Griffin tallied two runs apiece.
With the two wins, John Carroll is 9-3 heading into league play.
