Men's Tennis Bounces Back From League Loss To Knock Off Oberlin

Michael Hulseman put the finishing touches on a non-conference win over Oberlin
One day after dropping a hard-fought decision to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern, the Blue streaks bounced back Sunday afternoon by taking to the road once more and knocking off non-league foe Oberlin College.

Box Score

Where doubles was the bane for the Blue Streaks against Ohio Northern, it proved to be a boost in a 6-3 victory of the Yeomen.

Ryan Mullaney (Chicago, IL, Nazareth Academy) and Chad Ruehs (Poland, OH, Poland Seminary) won by an 8-1 score at #1 doubles, while Matthieu Menard (Amboise, Lycee Leonard de Vinci) and Sean Graham (Olmsted Falls, OH, Olmsted Falls) nearly had to go the distance in a critical 9-7 victory in the #2 match.

In singles play, JCU moved close to a victory when Rico Certo and Mullaney scored straight set wins at #4 and #2, respectively. The triumph was sealed when Menard pulled out a three-set win at #1 singles, claiming a 6-4 decision in the third frame.

Michael Hulseman (Winnetka, IL, Loyola Academy) accounted for the final points with a three-set win at #6 singles.

John Carroll is now 4-5 on the campaign.
