Three goals in the first half and a timely tally in the second lifted the John Carroll men's soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Buffalo State in the opening round of the Clarion Hotel Soccer Classic Friday night in Fredonia, New York.

Scores by Wycliffe Odhiambo in the 18th minute, Jeff Kosek (on a penalty kick) in the 25th minute, and a career-first by Ion Coada in the 42nd minute set the Blue Streaks up with a 3-0 lead at the break. 

JCU was stunned early in the second period when, despite outshooting Buffalo State by a whopping 14-2 margin in the opening 45 minutes, surrendered a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the latter half. 

The Streaks nursed a 3-2 advantage until freshman Kevin McKamish tallied his first collegiate goal with just over nine minutes to play to end the drama.

JCU finished the game with a 35-5 shot advantage and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Blue Streaks are now 2-1 on the year.
