Katie Knox came across with the tying run in game one, but it would be John Carroll's final run in a 6-4 setback
The good news heading into today's doubleheader for second place occupants John Carroll University and Mount Union College was that the worse case scenario would only drop the losing team into sole possession of third place.
Unfortunately for the Blue Streaks, the worse case scenario played out against them. The host Purple Raiders took both games of Tuesday's twinbill, 6-4 and 7-2.

Game Two
An ominous tone was set early when JCU loaded the bases in the first inning of the first game but failed to score. But that tone was erased when, down 1-0 in the third inning, JCU received key RBI hits from reigning OAC Hitter of the Week Olivia Mathews,
Angela Vistocco and Samantha Thompson to take a 3-1 lead.
The joy was short lived, however, as Mount Union used home runs by Marissa Earl (solo) and Meghan Simons (two-run) to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third.
JCU was able to tie the contest back up in the fourth on a two-out single that scored pinch runner
Katie Knox, but Mount Union had one last response. Three consecutive base hits with two out plated two runs to give the Purple Raiders a 6-4 lead,
The Blue Streaks went 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh.
The nightcap did not go well at all for the visiting Streaks, who were down 7-0 before scoring two runs in the top of the seventh.
Mount Union moves to 21-11 overall and 9-3 in the OAC with the wins. John Carroll slips to 18-14 overall and 7-5 in league play -- alone in third place but just one game ahead of Heidelberg, Capital and Muskingum.
