Ross Venzke won several close sets throughout the day to help John Carroll post a big win over Capital
In sizing up the Ohio Athletic Conference, the John Carroll-Capital match-up Saturday in Bexley figured to determine Ohio Athletic Conference playoff seeding down the road.
The visiting Blue Streaks staked their claim to a potential home date in the OAC Tournament, downing Capital by a 7-2 count.

It was another delightful day for the Blue Streaks' doubles teams.
Ryan Mullaney (Chicago, IL, Nazareth Academy) and
Chad Ruehs (Poland, OH, Poland Seminary) improved to 6-1 on the year with an 8-5 triumph over Max Hoff and Casey Filas at #1 doubles.
At #2 doubles,
Michael Hulseman (Winnetka, IL, Loyola Academy) and
Ross Venzke (Holland, OH, Toledo St. John's) survived a tiebreaker to knock off David Albert and Tom Stein, 9-8 (3-0). Hulseman and Venzke are now 4-3 this season.
Matt Tomayko and
Edward Zalar (Broadview Heights, OH) completed the doubles sweep with a convincing 8-1 win in the #3 slot. def. Tomayko and Zalar have won four of their five matches together.
Mullaney (#1), Venzke (#4), Tomayko (#5) and Zalar (#6) all win in singles play.
John Carroll is now 3-4 overall and 3-1 in league play, while Capital falls to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.
