Victory Proves Elusive For Women's Tennis Against Baldwin-Wallace

Ashley Bauer was one half of John Carroll's victorious #2 doubles team Saturday against the Yellow Jackets
After opening Ohio Athletic Conference play with a road win at Ohio Northern on March 27, the John Carroll women's tennis team was hoping to use that victory as a springboard to more success.

Victory, however, proved elusive once again on Saturday at Purvis Park, as the Blue Streaks fell by a 7-2 count to Baldwin-Wallace.

Box Score

The Yellow Jackets took five of the six singles matches. Amy Marchlen (Pittsburgh, PA, Mt. Lebanon) earned the lone Blue Streak victory at third singles, defeating her opponent Rebecca Mitler 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).

Marchlen also was victorious in doubles competition when she teamed with junior Ashley Bauer (Harrison City, PA, Penn Trafford) at second doubles. Marchlen and Bauer defeated Jenny Greene and Emily Pelosi 9-7.

The Blue Streaks are now 1-2 in conference play, but have a chance to even their record on Wednesday when they battle Muskingum in New Concord.
