Ross Venzke played at #3 singles for the first time as a Blue Streak Thursday, coming away with a straight set win at Otterbein

Using a different line-up than at any point of the season, the John Carroll men's tennis team rose to the challenge and knocked off Otterbein College, 8-1, on Thursday afternoon in Westerville, Ohio.
With two regulars out, the Blue Streaks turned to a pair of players making their varsity debut. Both won singles matches as William Fitzgerald defeated Jonathan Smith at #5 singles (6-4, 6-3), and Vincent Sheehan rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Thomas Bostem at #6.
It was a clean sweep for JCU in singles play, as James Steward, Matt Tomayko, Ross Venzke and Michael Hulseman all won their matches in straight sets. For Venzke and Hulseman, it was a rare chance to play at #3 and #4, respectively.
John Carroll is now 7-8 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.
