Rookies Score Some Wins, But Not Enough To Get Blue Streaks Past Oberlin

Anna Navatsyk picked up her 20th career singles win in a match against Oberlin
Box Score

The young players in the John Carroll line-up had one of their best collective days, but it would not be enough to score a road win as Oberlin edged the Blue Streaks, 5-4, Saturday afternoon at the Heisman Fieldhouse in Oberlin, Ohio.

In doubles play, the all freshman team of Maria Ciccolini (Green, OH, Green High School) and Meredith Skaggs (Huron, OH, Huron) scored an 8-3 win at the #1 spot, while sophomore Ashley Bauer (Harrison City, PA, Penn Trafford) teammed with rookie Deanna Bouchahine (Cleveland, OH, Normandy) for an 8-3 triumph at #3.

JCU needed just to split the singles matches for the win, but only got victories by junior Anna Navatsyk at #3 and freshman Athena Pappis (Pittsburgh, PA, North Hills) at #6. JCU had two sets go the distance but lost both.

The Blue Streaks are now 3-6 on the year.
