It took a thriller at the DeCarlo Varsity Center for the John Carroll Blue Streaks to snap their six game losing skid, coming from behind to top the Mount Union Purple Raiders, 81-75, in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest played at the DeCarlo Varsity Center Wednesday evening.

In a match-up of two teams looking to reverse recent downward trends, it would be the host Blue Streaks who made the big plays down the stretch to get back into the win column for the first time since January 10.
John Carroll trailed by six points (54-48) with 10:47 to play in regulation when it began to turn the game around. Lee Jennings and Rachael Price accounted for 11 consecutive points during an 11-4 John Carroll run that helped the Blue Streaks regain the lead, 59-58, with 7:33 left on the clock.
The Purple Raiders briefly regained the lead at 64-62 when Amanda Rose dropped in a lay-up with just over six minutes remaining in the contest, but John Carroll responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead for good. Caitlin Sureck's basket off a Price steal at the 4:57 mark gave the Blue Streaks an 68-66 edge, and Jennings added two free throws 30 seconds later for a four-point John Carroll lead.
JCU's lead would bounce anywhere between one to four points over the next three minutes before the home team was able to get some breathing room. Sureck was fouled on a missed shot by Mount Union and sank both free throws with 1:30 showing on the clock that gave the Blue Streaks their largest lead of the game at 77-71.
Mount Union could not cut into John Carroll's lead by any more than four points over those final 90 seconds.
The first half featured five lead changes and three ties, but Mount Union had the first surge of the game. A Tessa Pohovey lay-up with 11:28 to play in the opening period gave the Purple Raiders what would be the largest lead either team enjoyed in the contest at 19-11. John Carroll would rally, however, and the game would be tied at 34-34 by the time the half ended.
Mount Union led by as many as seven points in the second half before John Carroll took charge in the latter stages.
John Carroll (10-10, 5-8 OAC) got a combined 55 points from Jennings (21), Sureck (18) and Price (16) as the Blue Streaks feasted on Mount Union miscues. The Blue Streaks scored 27 points off 16 Purple Raiders turnovers.
Mount Union (12-7, 7-6 OAC), which dropped its fourth game in the last six, had four players in double figures, led by 19 from Lauren Forquer and 13 from Nancy Faulhaber.
