First Half Scoring Barrage Yields To Defensive Struggle As Streaks And Polar Bears Earn A Draw

The JCU offense put together its first multiple-goal scoring effort since September 29
John Carroll and Ohiio Northern erupted for four first half goals, then the respective defenses took over and allowed zero goals the rest of the way as the two Ohio Athletic Conference conference powers played to a 2-2 draw Saturday in Ada, Ohio.

The first JCU goal was scored on a header by forward Corey Rider (Vermilion, OH, Vermilion) at the 11:19 mark of the first. Rider's tally was assisted on by midfielder Kyle Buxman (Poland, OH, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney).

Buxman answered and got a goal of his own in the second half as he recieved a centering pass at 33:40 to equalize the score at, 2-2. 

Neither team was able to net a goal in the two overtime periods as the game ended even at, 2-2. 

Streaks goalkeeper Geoff Bloom (Bothell, WA, Bishop Blanchet) made nine saves while opposing goalkeeper Mac Church made two saves. 

The tie moves the Blue Streaks to 6-5-5 overall and 0-2-3 in the OAC, while Northern moves to 10-3-2 and 4-0-1 in the conference.
