Offense Stymied Again As JCU Men's Soccer Falls To Marietta In Overtime

Jake Milli (foreground) and Michael Zumerling helped the JCU defense blank a second consecutive foe in regulation, but it would not be enough for a win
The John Carroll offense was stymied once again as the Blue Streaks were shutout for the third consecutive match in falling to Marietta Saturday afternoon, 1-0, in Marietta, Ohio.

Box Score

The JCU offense had been a positive storyline in the early part of the season, but injuries seem to have sapped the scoring punch. JCU, which scored 22 goals over its first nine matches, has scored just two in its last five, including today's contest.

On the other hand, the JCU defense played extremely well again, blanking a second straight opponent in regulation, However, an own goal proved to be the decider today as the winning tally came off a wayward headed ball at the 91:42 mark.

JCU had a 17-14 edge in shots taken, a 10-1 edge in corner kicks, and suffered five offsides calls in falling to 6-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. Marietta improves to 4-8-1 and 2-1-0 in the OAC.
