It may have taken 16 minutes for the Blue Streaks to get on the scoreboard in their match against Culver-Stockton College in the opening round of the John Carroll Classic, but once the first goal was posted, the proverbial horses were out of the barn.

John Carroll had ten different players score goals in a 12-0 victory that set the school record for most goals in a single game.

It was simply a case of one team being overmatched by another, as John Carroll outshot the visitors from Missouri by a 54-0 count. It was also an opportunity for many of the younger playetrs in the program to log playing time, as seven of the 12 goals scored were by players who found the net for the first time in their collegiate careers.

One of those first time goal scorers got the ball rolling. Rachel Grdina took a pass from Brynn McNicholas, and put JCU on the board at the 16:06 mark. McNicholas continued to serve as playmaker, finding Elizabeth Daigler less than three minutes later for what would be the Blue Streaks' second goal.

JCU would find the net three more times in the half, as Erika Eberhardt, Lauren Wilson and Katie Porta tallied goals. For Wilson, it was the seventh goal of her career, while Eberhardt (a junior defender) and Porta (a senior midfielder) ended career droughts.

Freshman Dana Hinebaugh opened the second half with a goal on her first career shot. Betsy Haigh, who assisted on the Hinebaugh goal, would assist on the next as well, finding freshman Alicia Sovacool for JCU's seventh tally at the 55:20 mark.

Laura Anne Nowicki and Daigler would push the lead to 9-0, leaving the field to a squad of largely sophomores and freshmen. The one junior, Meagan O'Keefe, would score two unassisted goals with sophomore Kasey Eckman scoring the other. The Blue Streaks did not score again, nor take another shot, after the 77:24 mark.

JCU, now 2-0-1 on the year, has now posted three consecutive shutouts to open the season.
