Box Score
John Carroll may have waited until April 5 to get its first win of the season, but since taking that initial victory, the season has gone an entirely different direction.
On Monday afternoon in Westerville, Ohio, the Blue Streaks rolled to a 7-2 victory over host Otterbein. The win was John Carroll's third in the last four matches (the only loss coming to 15-3 Mount Union by a 5-4 score) and evened the Streaks' Ohio Athletic Conference record at 3-3.
JCU claimed two doubles points, as James Steward and Jeff Copp won by an 8-3 score at the #1 spot, while Matt Tomayko and Michael Finissi won by the same score in the #2 slot.
In singles play, John Carroll got straight set wins from its top five players. Steward won by a 6-0 6-2 at #1, while Tomayko was even more dominant with a 6-1 6-0 triumph at #2.
Finissi battled David Powers to a tiebreak in the first set of the #3 match, but prevailed by an 8-6 count. He would close out the sweep with a 6-2 win in set two.
Ross Venzke won 6-3 7-5 in the fourth singles match, while Copp rolled to a 6-0 6-2 victory at #5 singles.
John Carroll is now 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the OAC, while Otterbein falls to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in league play.
