An early goal by Steve Smola did not hold up as John Carroll could not overcome two Ohio Welsyean goals in dropping a 2-1 decision to the #22 ranked Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops Saturday night in Delaware, Ohio.

The visiting Blue Streaks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Smola converted a turnover into the game's first score.

Ohio Wesleyan responded a little over four minutes later when Eric Laipple blasted a shot that caught the underside of the crossbar and bounced down and into the Blue Streak goal.

Will Murawski scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the final minute of the first half when he seized upon a deflected shot.

John Carroll outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 10-8, but not convert for a game-tying goal over the final 45 minutes.

The Blue Streaks fall to 3-5 with the loss.
