John Carroll found victories few and far between as it ran up against two loaded squads this weekend at the Case Western Reserve University Veale Classic, which was held Friday and Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Blue Streaks fell to the Wooster Fighting Scots on Friday by a 179-62 count, and to the Oberlin Yeomen by a 139-83 score on Saturday.

John Carroll's only victory against Wooster was actually achieved at the William H. Johnson Natatorium on the JCU campus where all diving events were held for the Veale Classic. David Essi won the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 192.45 points.

On Saturday, Tom Barden tallied the lone JCU win against Oberlin by winning the grueling 1650 Free in a time of 18:53.31 -- 25 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

The two losses drop John Carroll's record to 1-4 on the year.
